Ingelmoor grad drafted by Red Sox in MLB draft

Inglemoor High School graduate Mitchell Gunsolus was picked in the tenth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Boston Red Sox.

Inglemoor High School graduate Mitchell Gunsolus was picked in the tenth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Boston Red Sox.

Gunsolus, who played at Gonzaga University, is a 6-foot, 200-pound infielder.

The Red Sox used its 291st pick on the Kenmore resident.

During his senior season at Gonzaga, Gunsolus earned First Team ALL-WCC honors and finished in the top two in every offensive category. He finished with a .353 batting average, scored 46 runs, belted seven home runs and knocked in 34 RBI.

According to Baseball America, Gunsolus was the No. 7 prospect from Washington state.

Andrew Sopko was also drafted from Gonzaga.

“Everyone in the program is very excited and happy for both Andrew and Mitchell,” Gonzaga head coach Mark Machtolf told the official Gonzaga University Baseball website. “… For Gunsolus, deciding to come back for his senior year paid off for him, and he’s also greatly improved. Both guys will do very well in the pros and we’re excited to be able to watch their careers grow.”
