Javid to serve as UW-Bothell commencement speaker

The University of Washington, Bothell has announced Mahnaz Aflatooni Javid, doctor of education, as speaker for its 19th annual commencement ceremony June 13.

Dr. Javid was selected for this honor for her commitment to community service and social and economic development projects in the U.S., South and Central America and Africa.

Javid is a University of Washington, Bothell graduate (master’s in education, ‘95) and has a doctorate in educational leadership, with a focus on educational technologies and human-software interface from Seattle University. She is a recognized expert in the integration of technology across disciplines to enhance learning, and has authored several articles in scholarly publications.

She is one of the founding members of the Mona Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting grassroots educational initiative, raising the status of women and girls in the U.S. and abroad

UW-Bothell will hold its commencement from 2-4 p.m. June 13 at the Bank of America Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion, Seattle. It is expected that more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students will participate in the ceremonies.
