Kenmore’s Duguay earns Eagle Scout ranking

Jason Duguay of Kenmore completed his last requirement for the rank of Eagle Scout by completing his community service project. His project was to make 500 coloring books for Children’s Hospital patients, particularly children who speak a language other than English.

For this project, Jason directed a team of scouts, who raised more than $900 through two events. He then designed a 50-page color book using free, online drawings and had the color book translated into Russian, Vietnamese, Spanish and Somali by friends at school.

Jason and a group of scouts then bound the 500 color books using a spiral binding machine, and delivered them to young patients at Children’s Hospital, along with colored markers and crayons.

Jason said he got the idea for the project when he was a patient at Children’s Hospital and saw a little girl who could not read english struggling to find a color book in Spanish.
