Northshore schools earn 2013 state achievement awards

Eight Northshore schools earned Washington Achievement Awards for 2013 and will be honored during an awards ceremony April 24, at Timberline High School in Lacey, Wash.

Eight Northshore schools earned Washington Achievement Awards for 2013 and will be honored during an awards ceremony April 24, at Timberline High School in Lacey, Wash.

Shelton View Elementary School earned awards for Overall Excellence and Math Growth. Fernwood Elementary School earned an award for Overall Progress, Cottage Lake Elementary School earned an award for High Progress and East Ridge Elementary School earned an award for Math Growth. Inglemoor and Woodinville high schools earned an award for Overall Progress and Bothell High School and Northshore Networks earned an award for High Progress.

Schools can be recognized for top performance in six categories: Overall Excellence, High Progress, Reading Growth, Math Growth, Extended Graduation Rate (awarded to high and comprehensive high schools only) and English Language Acquisition.

The Washington Achievement Awards are sponsored by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education. Award winners are selected using the state’s Achievement Index and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver.
