Bertrand Valdman, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Puget Sound Energy, will be the keynote speaker at the Cascadia Community College Foundation’s 5th Annual Make Dreams Come True Breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. April 21.

Organizers expect to raise over $60,000 for scholarships, grants and emergency loans for students, as well as to provide support for other college programs.

Valdman joined Puget Sound Energy in 2003 after serving as managing director of investment banking services for JP Morgan’s energy-sector clientele. He previously had held a variety of positions in New York and Paris. Valdman also has taught courses in financial analysis and corporate finance at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and is currently a faculty member of the University of Idaho College of Business and Economics Utility Executive Program.

In addition to Valdman, the breakfast will feature two Cascadia students who have received scholarships through the foundation speaking about their experiences. More than 150 students have already received financial support from the foundation during the 09-10 school year.

Andy Wappler, Puget Sound Energy’s Senior Public Relations Manager, and former chief meteorologist for KIRO-TV, will be the emcee again this year.
