Red-hot Bothell High pulled out its third-straight basketball victory on Tuesday night, a huge 68-56 win in a loser-out situation against Lake Stevens, which earned the Cougar boys a berth to Friday’s Class 4A regionals against sixth-ranked Olympia at 6 p.m. at Auburn High School.

Junior guard Perrion Callandret, who was nursing a bruised thigh all week that kept him out of practice, led with a game-high 27 points.

When combined with the other part of the Cougars’ one-two guard punch in Zach LaVine (25 points), the two came with points of beating Lake Stevens on their own.

Callandret did most of his damage in the first half, pouring in 19 to give Bothell a 38-20 lead that they would never relinquish.

Late in the fourth quarter with the Cougars in the bonus, Bothell made eight consecutive shots from the charity stripe to keep the Vikings at bay.

With a win on Friday, Bothell will advance to the Tacoma Dome’s 4A state basketball championships for the first time since 1997.
