After being on the wrong side of two consecutive fifth-game tiebreakers, the Cougars' volleyball team finally pulled through in a grueling match against Eastside Catholic at home on Thursday night, winning 3-2.

After being on the wrong side of two consecutive fifth-game tiebreakers, the Cougars’ volleyball team finally pulled through in a grueling match against Eastside Catholic at home on Thursday night, winning 3-2.

An epic first game saw Bothell match the Crusaders point for point until the Cougars emerged victorious 31-29, and the home team went on to win the second game 25-23 before dropping the next two 16-25 and 23-25.

The Cougars, whose previous two matches against Lakeside and Monroe (both losses) have gone to a tiebreak, were able to outlast Eastside Catholic 15-11 in the deciding final set.

For Bothell, Katie Arneson slammed a season-high 20 kills, with Lexie Bedell adding 12. Defensively it was a team effort for the Cougars as Theresa Laufasa led with 15 digs, with Arneson contributing 14, Bedell 11 and Katie Galvagno 10.

The win evened Bothell’s overall record at 2-2 on the season.

Also last night, Inglemoor was swept by Monroe, 3-0, at Monroe high School. The loss evened Inglemoor’s season record at 2-2.

 

Inglemoor golfers rout Garfield

Playing at Seattle’s Jefferson Park Golf Course, the Viking boys performed very well in a 206-233 rout of Garfield High Thursday afternoon.

Although Garfield standout Grey Davidson earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38, the rest of the leaderboard was loaded with Vikings.

Cole Hublou fired a 40 to lead the team, followed by teammates Jason Richardson and Alec Haygon with 41, and Carter Tillotson and Chris Brummer one stroke behind them at 42.

 

Seattle Christian ends Cedar Park’s streak

The Cedar Park Christian girls’ soccer team’s amazing scoring streak to start the season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as they got shut out by Seattle Christian 4-0.

Prior to the shutout, they had scored 15 goals while allowing none.

The loss dropped the Eagles to 2-1 in Nisqually 1A league play and 3-1 overall.
