The Inglemoor High School girls basketball team took one more step toward a state title on Thursday with an opening-round victory against Bellarmine Prep, 56-33, at the Tacoma Dome.

The Vikings defense was suffocating from the start and set the tone for the game by holding Prep to just one point during the first quarter of play. On offense Inglemoor dominated by taking a 25-10 lead into halftime.

The second half was much closer, as Bellarmine Prep kept pace but never managed to cut into the Viking lead.

Inglemoor used a balanced attack on offense to keep Prep players on their toes. Deja Strother finished the game with a team high 11 points and seven blocked shots, while Alex Hagen scored nine points and had 10 rebounds, Mackenzie Gardner had eight points and Kennedy Nicholas had six points and led the team with 11 rebounds.

The Vikings will play Moses Lake on Friday at 7:15 p.m. in the Tacoma Dome during the semifinal contest.
