The strong Bothell boys and Inglemoor girls’ track teams rolled through the Northwest Regional meet at Quil Ceda Stadium in Marysville last weekend, with the Cougars placing second out of 21 teams and the Vikings finishing first out of 22 teams.

On the boys’ side, sprinter Dylan Langston continued his impressive season with a win in the 100 meters in 10.87 seconds, following it up with a close second in the 200 (22.14).

Nick Anthony, Chris Arneson and Chayce Sather each punched their tickets to state, finishing 3-4-5 in the 400 meter finals, and distance specialist Colin O’Neil of Inglemoor advanced in both the 1,600 (4:22.13) and 3,200 (9:25.88).

The Cougars’ relay squad of Anthony, Langston, Will McIntyre and Trent Sewell (43.30) won the 400 relay by less than one-tenth of a second over Mariner (43.39), and the 1,600 meter team, composed of Anthony, Arneson, Camden McKone and Sather, took that event in 3:23.86.

Throwers Brendan Peterson (shot put, 49 feet, 10.5 inches) and Greg Williams (discus, 143-1) will both be at Star Track, as will Viking senior Shamus Mukai in the pole vault (14-0).

On the girls’ side, sophomore Brooke Monson took the fifth and final spot to state by a hundredth of a second (26.19), with Tansey Lystad dominating the distance events with wins in the 1,600 (4:56.68) and the 3,200 (10:41.13), with both of her times personal bests in a Viking uniform. In the 3,200, Kyra Burke also advanced in 11:18.06.

Hurdlers Erin Allen and Becca Berge both will be running the 100 and 300 meter events at state, with Allen winning both events, and the 1,600 relay squad of Monson, Berge, Anne Seckinger and Sarah Nash taking fourth to advance.

In the field, Allie Hadley of Bothell had a season-best 122-5 toss in the javelin to punch her state ticket, with Inglemoor’s Isabella Torgerson clearing 10 feet in the pole vault to make state.

The state track meet gets underway on Thursday, May 26 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma at 4:30 p.m. and runs through Saturday.
