Playing in a steady rain, Inglemoor plated its first run, unearned, on a balk by Redmond starter Emily Graves, and added two more as the Mustangs’ offense was unable to get anything going against Viking starter Rosie Matsumoto.

Matsumoto scattered seven hits, for her ninth win of the season.

For the Vikings, Kaylee Hardin paced the offense with three hits and Jenna Rutherford went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

With the win, the Vikings improved to 10-1 in 4A Kingco play and 13-2 overall at press time. They were tied with Woodinville for the league lead.

COUGARS CRUSH BALLARD AT HOME

The Bothell fastpitch team got a strong pitching performance from starter Savannah Rose and a lot of offense in a 13-3 win over Ballard on Friday afternoon at Bothell High.

Rose struggled early and gave up three runs on three hits, but pitched shutout ball after the second inning for the win while the Cougar offense exploded for six runs in the fourth to put the game away.

For Bothell, Sammy Morris went 3-for-4 including a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored and Lacey McGladrey added two hits.

The Cougars improved to 6-5 on the year (6-7 overall) and moved into a tie for third in the 4A Kingco Crown division with Lake Washington.

BOTHELL BASEBALL HANGS ON IN NAIL-BITER

With the Beavers’ tying run 90 feet away from home, the Bothell Cougars induced a timely groundout to hold on to a 7-6 win in the 4A Kingco Crown division on Friday night.

The Cougars’ consistent offensive effort produced runs in each of the first five innings, as the Beavers scored one in the top of the seventh and had ended the game with the tying run on third.

For the Cougars, Dain Gilbert went 2-for-4 with a double and Kevin McShane got the win in relief.

With the win, Bothell (9-6, 13-6) secured the Crown division No. 2 seed for the Kingco playoffs.

VIKINGS CONTINUE DREAM SEASON AGAINST ROOSEVELT

Inglemoor baseball won its third straight and 13th of the season with a 7-2 victory over Roosevelt on Friday night at home.

Vikings’ starter Dustin Doucette had a quality start, going four innings and giving up two runs on two hits while striking out four for the win, while Inglemoor’s potent lineup struck for five runs in the decisive third inning.

Marc Dickerson had a bases-clearing triple and senior catcher Ethan Yeo went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Vikings have locked up their No. 1 seed in the Crown division with their 13-2 record.

INGLEMOOR TENNIS EDGES JUANITA

The Viking girls won three of four singles matches en route to a tight 4-3 match win over the Rebels in 4A Kingco tennis action on Thursday afternoon.

Jasmine Singh, playing at No. 2, routed Sara Salmonsen 6-1, 6-0; Katie Coles went three sets in her defeat of Devin Clawson 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2; and Erin Bankaitis beat Michelle Brown in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

The doubles team of Leanne Thim/Mikayla Dear was the only pair to win its match, 6-3, 6-3.

LADY COUGARS FALL TO LW

Despite Bothell winning two of three doubles matches, Lake Washington swept the Cougars in singles action on Thursday afternoon in a 5-2 loss.

In doubles action, No. 1 Allie Hadley and Allie Duhamel beat Jelena Aleksov and Joyce Lin in a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 match and No. 2 Mary Westlake and Emily Kinman defeated Shannon Ong and Holly Hemericks, 6-2, 6-3.

COUGAR, VIKING SOCCER SHUT OUT

Both the Bothell and Inglemoor high soccer squads suffered shutouts against struggling teams on Friday night, with the Cougars losing, 1-0, to Woodinville and Redmond getting the best of the Vikings, 2-0.

The upset loss for Bothell dropped the team into a tie for third place in the league at 6-3-1 (8-3-3) while the Vikings, winless in their last five matches, fell to 2-6-2 (2-7-4).

NORTHSHORE LACROSSE ROUTED BY ISSAQUAH

A seven-goal second quarter lifted Issaquah over Northshore, 16-6, on Friday night at Inglemoor High in a boys Division I lacrosse matchup.

Leading attackman Foster Wisman left the game in the first quarter with an injury, but his brother, Taylor, picked up the slack with a three-goal, one-assist night and Kyle Barrett also chipped with two goals.

With the loss, Northshore dropped to 6-4-0 while streaking Issaquah won its sixth straight to improve to 9-1-0.
