YMCA presents ‘Exercise and Thrive’ in Bothell

For cancer survivors, studies suggest that exercise improves long-term survival and quality of life.

Among the quality of life benefits are improved fitness, enhanced self-esteem and reduced fatigue. Exercise also can help control weight gain and relieve depression.

To support cancer survivors, the YMCA of Greater Seattle and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program have partnered to offer a free 10-week strength and fitness program, dubbed “Exercise and Thrive.” Classes launched at Bothell’s Northshore YMCA Feb. 5 and continue until April 11.

Patients who have completed active cancer treatment and have medical clearance are eligible to enroll in the program.

To enroll in the “Exercise and Thrive” program, contact the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at (206) 667-2814 or e-mail survivor@fhcrc.org.
