Coach Waggoner’s back with Cedar Park Christian/ Prep Girls Soccer Preview

He’s led Cedar Park Christian to state titles in the past, and coach Ben Waggoner is back at the helm for the Eagles this season.

“We are excited about this season. We are a young team with only four seniors and two juniors, but despite our age we are proficient and technically sound,” he said. “We play in an extremely competitive league (1A Emerald City) with the top-three finishers at state being in our league: Seattle Academy, Overlake and Bush.”

Key players are senior co-captain and center midfielder Anna Barrett, who is a fiery competitor and natural leader, according to Waggoner. Another senior and co-captain Nicollette Clark will look to pressure defenses at forward. And in the back is yet another senior co-captain Ryan Miller at sweeper, who will pair with sophomore stopper Danielle Dufenhorst.

Other players to watch are juniors Brie Burroughs (outside defender) and Danica Granard (outside midfielder) and incoming freshman McKenzie Mills, a speedy center midfielder with solid technical ability, the coach said.

Senior goalkeeper Kari Johnson is out with a foot injury until the end of this month.
