Bothell High grad and Oregon State punter Johnny Hekker was recently nominated for the Allstate Good Works Team

Bothell High class of 2008 graduate Johnny Hekker was recently announced as a nominee for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the most prestigious off-field honor in college football.

Hekker has been heavily involved in community service during his time at Oregon State, including

– Helping to build a house for a family during a service trip to Guatemala

– Volunteering for the Boys & Girls Club

– Being a “Read Across America” celebrity reader

From the pool of nominees, two 11-player Good Works Teams will be selected and announced in late September in both the Football Bowl Subdivision (Div. 1-A) and for the NCAA Football Championship subdivision (Div. II, III, NAIA).  Past members of the Good Works Team include Super Bowl champion quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer.
