Experience is key in primary election | Letter

So the political scene is upon us. Do we vote for the person with the most signs or do we vote for the one with the best design? I suggest we opt for the candidate that has proven her dedication to our community and education with stunning success for 35 years. That would be Rosemary McAuliffe (running for re-election for State Senate in the 1st Legislative District).

I read a lot about education reform, but Rosemary McAuliffe has proven she can get the job done and is up to continue the fight for our children and PUBLIC schools. Rosemary McAuliffe knows the value of public education as fundamental for our democracy. She recognizes the spectacular job Washington educators have done despite embarrassing budget shortfalls.

What is Rosemary willing to do for our children and state now? She will continue to fight to fully fund public education and support ongoing educational innovation today and into the future. She is willing to continue to support education that promotes science, technology, engineering and math.

Rosemary is trusted and her views are well respected. She has proven she knows how to stand up for important issues like early childhood education and an effective teacher evaluation system. Rosemary knows that teachers need to be supported in their work with resources, mentoring and professional respect. She is unwavering in her work ethic because her grandchildren’s, our children’s, futures are at stake.

As a special-education teacher, I am proud that public schools educate all students. There are no magical cures or quick fixes for what ails our schools that fully funding public education, supporting our teachers and engaging educators in the solutions will not cure.

Rosemary McAuliffe has effectively been doing what we sent her to Olympia to do. Her heart, experience, knowledge and wisdom guide her. She should be re-elected to continue that work.
