Kenmore City Council story — part 2/Letter

Array

I’m not the only Kenmore resident who feels this way, so let me just say:

Tom Corrigan’s coverage of Kenmore city government is mediocre at best and downright one-sided at its worst. This particular story is typical in that it focuses almost exclusively on what the City Council’s (alleged) charges are against councilmember John Hendrickson. Never mind that “the Reporter” has never given Hendrickson a chance to challenge the council’s accusations in public.

In the interest of full disclosure, I live in Kenmore and I’ve blogged about this controversy and Hendrickson and I have spoken personally in the past.

So, when will the Bothell-Kenmore Reporter get serious and truly “inform” the public about the facts of this issue rather than cover the theatrics at city hall meetings?

Editor’s note: As noted in last issue’s editorial, the Reporter has covered both sides of the city’s financial story many times — with at least six stories from October 2009 to November 2010 — and given Hendrickson and other members of council plenty of room to speak.

The October 2009 story revolved around Hendrickson’s allegations of a city deficit and he was featured prominently in the story.

Two October 2010 stories featured the city’s finance director and the state’s audit manager and assistant audit manager.
