Kenmore City Councilmembers should get along/ Letter

The recent articles by Tom Corrigan concerning the Kenmore City Council and city feuding boiled over a rancorous council atmosphere. It is unfortunate that Kenmore elected officials and city personnel cannot deliberate and operate with civil behavior. What has happened to constructive debate and governing legacy? Why cannot information be critically received, discussed and analyzed without heated conflict and acrimonious behavior?

The citizens of Kenmore did not elect councilmembers to demean one another or the city manager to depreciate councilmembers. We envision more from our city manager then deploying fits of anger when faced with disagreement. His job is to assist councilmembers with their decision making and providing credible information.

The behavior reflected in these articles and at council meetings is frequently far from citizens’ expectations. The Kenmore governing and administrative body needs to reassess its professional attitude that should transcend bickering and individual bias. Councilmembers and the city manager who find deliberations too “hot” to tolerate should resign and allow others to fill their positions.
