Some of Hancock’s remarks were off base

Mr. Hancock’s Dec. 3 letter (“The Democrats failed”) has left me puzzled. I’m unsure if his opinions are offered as satire or is he serious? If the former, I congratulate you for the satiric portrayal of the G.O.P. If the latter, I would like to “refudiate,” as Sarah Palin so eloquently puts it, some of his more peculiar conclusions.

Giving a stimulus check to senior citizens is misguided because they are likely to spend it responsibly while the rest of us would buy flatscreen TVs, Kindles, Mercedes, etc.

The last thing we want are citizens spending money wisely.

Of course Democrats hate the rich! That’s why more millionaires and billionaires were created under Clinton and the Dems than in the rest of the 20th century combined.

As for socialism polluting the purity of our capitalism, are we excluding the tobacco subsidies John Boehner helped restart when he distributed tobacco lobbyists checks on the floor of the House? Since 1995, approximately $944 million has been paid in such subsidies. For more information see the PBS documentary “People and the power game.” The rest of his screed just parrots the Tea-Party positions, which are somewhat difficult to take seriously given their struggle with English language and their inability to articulate a coherent thought.

Thanks for representing the Tea Party so accurately Mr. Hancock.
