4A Kingco’s top swimming talent met at the conference swim and dive championships last weekend at Mary Wayte Pool on Mercer Island, and Inglemoor High senior Kyle Komlodi made a statement toward being a serious threat at state this year with two convincing victories.

The Viking team of Sam Billett, Casey Collela, Komlodi and Brian Novack led off the league meet with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of one minute, 49.02 seconds before Komlodi dominated with a nearly four-second victory in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.36.

In the 50-yard freestyle sprint, fellow Viking senior Craig Olynyk (22.46) finished a close second to Newport’s Sebastian Bury, who won the meet in 22.19, and then it was Komlodi bagging another league medal in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.43.

The Vikings continued their strong showing with Olynyk placing second in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.32, again finishing second to Bury (49.06); and in the grueling 500-yard freestyle, distance specialist Sam Billett placed fifth in 5:02.72.
