Inglemoor’s Gonzalez Cuervo, Singh double up to win 4A Kingco title; state is next / Prep Tennis

Inglemoor High’s powerhouse doubles team of Maria Gonzalez Cuervo and Jasmine Singh swept Kelly Watanabe and Jess Lund of Lake Washington, 6-0, 6-0, on Saturday to win the doubles title of the 4A Kingco Tournament at Skyline High and earn an automatic berth into the 4A state championships.

Inglemoor High’s powerhouse doubles team of Maria Gonzalez Cuervo and Jasmine Singh swept Kelly Watanabe and Jess Lund of Lake Washington, 6-0, 6-0, on Saturday to win the doubles title of the 4A Kingco Tournament at Skyline High and earn an automatic berth into the 4A state championships.

Also participating in the tournament were Viks Meg Linder and Ellie Tanaka, who lost a grueling 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 match in the second round, and Allie Duhamel and Allie Hadley of Bothell, who also fell in the second round, 6-0, 6-2.

In singles action, Viking senior Katie Coles lost to Redmond’s Raluca Ifrim in the second round, 6-2, 6-4; Viking Leanne Thim went three sets in a loss to Cora Byers of Woodinville, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1; and Bothell’s Nicole Henderson routed Skyline’s Kristin Park, 6-0, 6-0, before falling to Issaquah’s Alyssa Wilson, 6-1, 6-1.
