DENNIS GLEN HAGEN

May 15,1944 – May 18,2019

Dennis Glen Hagen passed away in his sleep the night of May 17, 2019 while visiting his Daughter and family in Stuttgart, Germany. Dennis was born to John and Helen Hagen in Pasadena on May 15,1944. He grew up in the Seattle area with his parents, brother John, and sisters Kristi and Carol. He enjoyed playing sports, fishing, and visiting family in Montana during his summers.

In August of 1973 he married Kathleen (Petersen) Hagen and together they had four children, Jennifer, Greg, Scott and Denise. He also had John Hagen from a previous marriage to his highschool sweetheart. Dennis served with the Marines during the Vietnam War and then came home where he taught history and then worked as a Boeing engineer. Many would say he was born to be a husband, coach, father and grandfather.

Dennis loved coaching youth sports, cheering on the teams of his children and grandchildren as well as the Sounders, Seahawks, Mariners and Huskies. He was a quiet man with a huge heart that would do anything for his friends or family. A perfect day for Dennis might include a cup of Roark’s coffee in the morning, some sporting events, and would end with a glass of red wine. Dennis was known around Kenmore, WA where he lived the majority of his life as Coach Dennis. We estimate he has coached hundreds of teams, and many of those young athletes have become close family friends.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen, brother John, and sister Kristi.

He is survived by his sister Carol Patt (Poipu, HI), his son John Hart (San Francisco, CA), daughter Jennifer Miller and son-in-law Drew Miller (Stuttgart, Germany), his son Greg Hagen and daughter-in-law Tiffany Hagen (Kenmore, WA), his son Scott Hagen and daughter-in-law Tara Hagen (Vail, AZ), and daughter Denise Hagen (Seattle, WA). He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Hannah, Drew, Daisy, Brady, Dylan, Athena, Ruby, Taylor, Jake, and Theadore.

Memorial mass service will be scheduled for Dennis in August at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church 12600 84th Avenue NE Kirkland, WA 98034. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow mass.
