I am a Kenmore and Northshore resident and was surprised to see that Ken Smith is running for public office again.

Mr. Smith ran for the Kenmore City Council in 2013. He described his platform in a letter of July 22 in the Bothell Reporter. He claimed that “No one knows for sure” what Kenmore’s finances were, arguing that our town was not “honest” with Kenmore residents about this. He lost badly because voters knew that this was untrue.

As a School Board candidate, he’s running on the same platform, only now it’s the Northshore School District that is not financially “transparent” and is needs to be fixed. As I lifelong Northshore resident, I’m proud of our district, and know that its limited funds are well spent.

If he loses this race, will he find another public office and make the same claim? At least he’s consistent.
