Almost 400 fifth- and sixth-grade mathaletes from Bear Creek, Canyon Creek, Cottage Lake, East Ridge, Fernwood, Frank Love, Hollywood Hill, Kenmore, Maywood, Shelton View, Sunrise, Westhill and Woodin elementary schools tested their math skills in number sense, algebra, probability and statistics and potpourri at the annual Northshore Elementary Math Olympiad competition.
This culminating district-wide event encourages mathaletes to stretch their mind muscles and teamwork skills while collaboratively working out complex math programs in a tournament style competition. Math Olympiad is an after school math program held at many Northshore elementary schools for 5th- and 6th-grade students designed to increase student interest in math and stimulate and challenge students in mathematical pursuits.
