The event In Concert for Cancer, an annual community music fundraiser, is coming to the Kirkland Performance Center this year on Nov. 17.
Looking to green up your Halloween, but missed the costume swap sponsored hosted by City of Kirkland? Never fear. There are still some super spooky ways to make your Halloween eco-friendly.
Voters are often inundated with confusing and conflicting election information, which makes it hard for those of us who try to make well informed choices – we need to sort out what is truthful, speculative, or inconsequential. While we are all aware of this for the highly visible presidential race, it’s also concerning for our state and local elections.
When deciding how to vote on Bothell Proposition 1, also known as the Safe Streets and Sidewalks Levy, it is important to place this issue in context.
Your position on “Safe Streets” is just what our Real Estate Developer led City Council hoped for. Being a tool for Freed, Toll Brothers and associated greed driven interests is indefensible in politics or journalism.
In the midst of the angry world of politics, which seems uglier by the day, we should all be grateful that Washington’s elections are trustworthy, accurate, and run by Secretary of State Kim Wyman. She is a leader who has kept Washington’s edge in voter registration, turnout, and ballot security.
As a new resident, I’m excited about Kenmore Proposition 1 – Walkways and Waterways — and what it provides for the city’s future.
I am writing in support of Kenmore’s Proposition 1 for Walkways and Waterways and I am encouraging the Kenmore community to do the same. My family moved to Kenmore in 2010, partly due to the location at the north end of Lake Washington. What we have noticed over the last six years, is that while we enjoy the local parks, we don’t have the same opportunity to enjoy the river and the lake itself. Proposition 1 will remedy that by improving waterfront access for all.

With election day right around the corner, everyone one of us needs to think about what is at stake this year. Working people know that the path to prosperity starts with electing candidates who support a raising wage agenda. We have the opportunity to win equal pay, paid leave, fair scheduling and higher wages. These are just some of the reasons why Donald Trump is not the best choice for America.
Transportation is always a hot topic in Northshore, whether it is traffic on State Route 522, cycling on the Burke-Gilman Trail or toll lanes on I-405. But the safety and conditions of the streets and sidewalks will take center stage on the upcoming general election ballot in Kenmore and Bothell.

My husband and I are new Kenmore residents for all of a few weeks now. When we looked at making an offer on our house, we started researching Kenmore and found out about Proposition 1. This piqued our interest as a place in which we would like to live.
Bothell residents will receive general election ballots in the mail later this month. You’ll have many decisions to make, from who should be our country’s next president to many statewide initiatives and offices, as well as county and regional measures. On your ballot you’ll also see two Bothell measures:Advisory Proposition No. 1: Whether the sale, possession and discharge of consumer fireworks should be prohibited in Bothell. The Council wants to know whether the public favors a ban against “Safe and Sane” fireworks – those typically sold at booths as fundraisers. The City Council will consider results of the election in making a determination about whether to ban such fireworks.Proposition No. 1: Levy for Safe Streets and Sidewalks. The nine-year Safe Streets and Sidewalks maintenance levy will focus on street improvements which will improve access for emergency vehicles, increase clarity of lane markings, and improve pavement quality, as well as safe routes to schools. I’ll go into more detail on this measure below.
I am writing to urge my fellow Kenmore neighbors to vote YES on City of Kenmore Proposition 1 for Walkways and Waterways on the November ballot.

We moved to what is now Kenmore in 1994 for many reasons, but what really attracted us, apart from the fantastic schools, was the closeness to the water and access to the Burke-Gilman trail giving me a safe way to bike commute. What I soon realized was that while we have these great amenities, unless you live on the water or right next to the trail or limited sidewalks, there is not a safe and easy way to access them. So instead of kids walking or biking to school and gaining the health benefits that follow, parents drive them for their own safety.

I am writing to offer a unique perspective on my former opponent, Shelley Kloba. Opposing candidates don’t often speak highly of one another, however I was immediately struck by her insight into issues, dedication to working with others, and openness with me leading up to the primary.
