The National Air Traffic Controllers Association appreciates Congresswoman Susan DelBene’s recent support of H.R. 5292, The Air Traffic Controller Hiring Improvement Act of 2016. This bi-partisan legislation would address the current staffing crisis within the Federal Aviation Administration which is currently at a 27-year low for Certified Professional Controllers.

At the special meeting called to approve a new ethics officer last week, ex-mayor Joshua Freed again tried to force a vote concerning a “new” ethics officer, on the “new” acting city manager. The acting city manager asked for the approval by the council of an ethics officer that had not had any previous dealings with the city of Bothell. Any previous activity with the city had occurred more than 15 years ago, for the ethics officer suggested by the acting city manager.
The article about the teachers of Northshore voting to consider an action that is still against the law, going on strike, and then listing their grievances, besides pay, as worthy of civil disobedience… it’s really all about one thing… more taxes, the teachers are being used to push us into voting for an income tax, it will be on the ballot in November… again.

When I am pressured through aggressive tailgating and angry hand motions to go faster than the clearly posted speed limits or to disobey clearly posted “share-the-road” markings on Juanita Drive, I can only try to keep my cool and pray to God these neanderthals who can’t even go the speed limit on a Sunday morning are actually just from out of town.
I have been a resident of Bothell for 30 years and a city employee for 32 years. I also hold a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business management and leadership, so I am well qualified to comment on good management and leadership when I see it.
I came across Leigh Henderson’s letter to the editor encouraging folks to let the public how they felt about the firing of Bob Stowe.
Lately, I have been watching council sessions and reading Letters to the Editor. Often it is the same people who write in. I feel it’s time for the citizens to hear about the firing of Bob Stowe from a different perspective. From a recent employee, resident and Bothell homeowner.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in this great community. My family moved here in the early ’80s and it was a wonderful lifestyle. Me and my sisters played in our cul-de-sac with neighbor children, we made life-long relationships with neighbors and community members, we benefited from the wonderful schools and have had great success in our lives because of it. Most importantly, my family laid down roots in the community and have continued to prosper because of it. Mainly because of my father, John Strok, who has owned a small, humble, prosperous, well-loved, established business called Kenmore Jewel Box.
Kudos to the Bothell Public Works Department.

Since our staff did not know when the work windows are for fish in Lake Washington, I am providing the information. Thank you, Councilmember [Allan] VanNess, for asking a relevant question.
